This last week, our great town of Skiatook celebrated the annual Pioneer Day Festival, which began Thursday, September 12, and continued through Saturday, September 14. The three-day event drew in large crowds, with attendees enjoying music, food, and a wide variety of attractions. The entertainers were the Oklahoma Baptist Youth Praise Choir, Country Music with Thomas Martinez, and Infinity, ensuring there was something for everyone.
In addition to the live entertainment, the festival’s vendor booths had a vast range of items, from homemade food and crafted goods to toys and appliances. All could indulge in any of the numerous food trucks while browsing through the assortments of trinkets and handcrafted items. The rides were a major draw as well, having The Zipper and Zero Gravity for the Thrillseekers, Funhouses for the kids, The Paratrooper for our chill ride-goers, and many more for everyone.
Several community events took place over the week, adding to the festive atmosphere. Thursdays events included the popular “Thursday in the Park” with a performance by Infinity. Saturday had a 5k & fun run- Run the Rails, Seniors & Golden Couples Breakfast, Wings and Waves Fly-In & Boat show, the Parade, the Quilting show, Fishing Derby, Pie Contest, Martial Arts Demonstration, Meet and Greet with Gold Medalist/Paralympian.
The community festivities concluded with the Pioneer Day concert, which left a perfect end to the week of family fun and community bonding. People from both near and far joined together for this celebration, supporting local merchants and schools, and honoring Skiatook’s hometown spirit.
