On October 5th, seven of our high school choir members participated in auditioning for the all-district honor choir. After being given music close to the beginning of the school year, these dedicated students practiced four songs, attempting to master them, until two of the songs were chosen for the audition.
Students were to report to the choir room doors to be picked up and taken to Owasso for auditioning, all students took time cards and practiced hard until their audition time, where they went and sang for a group of people without being able to see them and them not being able to see you.
Once in the auditioning room, students were asked if they were ready, if yes, the piano accompaniment would start and run through selected parts of chosen songs, if no, then they would give the time needed before asking again, if the time given wasn’t enough, then students would be rescheduled.
When all the students were done auditioning, they would head back to the bus to return to school.
After 10 agonizing hours, the results of the auditions were released to the students, revealing that Kiera Pshigoda(Soprano 1), Alex Harper(Alto 1), and Mason Wilkonson(Base 2) were accepted into the OkMEA All-District Honor Choir and are to join the other accepted members for the District Vocal Music Festival on November 4th-5th.
All these students worked very hard to learn these songs in the given time and we are proud of every single one of them, make sure to give congrats to all choir members who were selected to join our district’s honor choir!
