Skiatook art students were extremely successful this year at the 2024 Tulsa State Fair Junior Fine Arts Contest. Students could enter their art into individual classes to be judged by fair management. Entries had to be submitted on Saturday, September 14th with a $5 entry fee. All of the entries were on display throughout the duration of the fair, which ran from Thursday, September 26th to Sunday, October 6th, in Central Park Hall.
In the Colored Pencils category, two Skiatook High School students, Chloe Phillips and Cash Whinery came out on top.
Chloe left with a 1st place ribbon and $10. Cash won a 2nd place ribbon and $5.
The Graphite Pencil category also saw two Skiatook winners, Anna Fox and Alexis Stumpf, both with impressive pieces. Anna won a 2nd place ribbon and recuperated her entry fee with a $5 prize.
Noah Martinez received 8th place in the Mixed Media category by working with different materials and compiling them into a collage of creativity.
Madissen Buck and Braden Long both took part in the Acrylic painting category. Madissen came away with a 3rd place ribbon and Braden placed 9th.
A shout-out to Mrs. Z, Skiatook High School’s art teacher, for her leadership and mentorship to her students. Congratulations to every student that competed in the Junior Open Fine Arts contest at the 2024 Tulsa State Fair, and a very big congratulations to all of the contest winners!
