Last Friday, October 11th our pre-k through 1st grade kiddos had an absolute blast at our annual walk-a-thon! The event started around 8:45 am. Our Bulldog media staff made their way to the field to record and snap some great pictures for people who couldn’t make it. All of the classes were brought, in order from pre-k through first grade, to the High School football field where they were greeted by staff and helpers. All staff wore the walk-a-thon merchandise, which was a light green t-shirt that read “In my Walk-a-thon Era” in big hippie-style font.
They were very thrilled to get up and have some fun. Mrs. Rainez was on the music and she sure rocked it, playing groovy tunes throughout the day! She explained that there were 30 minutes on the clock for each grade to grab their parents’ hands and walk (or run) around the track. Once the time was up students would gather with their teachers where their parents could check them out. Family members were invited to come and walk with their little ones. There were kids dancing, running, and absolutely overjoyed to see family and friends!
We had two lucky kids, Cash Etzcorn and Jocelyn Garza, who won brand new bikes for raising the most money in the fundraisers the elementary has participated in!
We made sure to make all kids feel included, this was a super fun day filled with smiles and support from lots of people within the Skiatook community. Congratulations to our pre-k through 1st grade classes for raising $20,000!!!
We are beyond proud of all the students who participated in the Walk-a-thon and raised money for their school
Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success!
